The Guild is thrilled to welcome Gail to the Twin Cities!  Gail is a nationally renowned instructor with a wealth of knowledge in fitting, construction, embellishment and unique machine skills. This is your opportunity to bring YOUR sewing skills to the next level!

Her grandmother’s treadle sewing machine is the earliest memory she has of a needle and thread. This memory is what first drew Gail to sewing.

In 1998, Gail started taking all types of classes at Manchester Sewing Machine Center in CT. Sewing quickly became a passion and a form of creative expression. Experimenting with all types of embellishment techniques is a favorite pastime. Teaching classes and interacting with all levels of sewing enthusiasts continues to be a source of inspiration and fun. Her fascination with sergers is an ongoing source of ideas for embellishments.

Gail is an active member of the American Sewing Guild CT Chapter and moderated the Manchester Neighborhood Group’s activities for over 10 years. She has taught classes and workshops across the country including American Sewing Guild National Conferences, the Puyallup Sewing & Stitchery Expo, Original Sewing & Quilt Expos, American Sewing Expo—Novi, MI and numerous American Sewing Guild Chapter events. Her Craftsy class, 40 Techniques Every Sewer Should Know is one of their bestsellers. Gail is a contributor to Threads, Sew News and Notions. Fons & Porter published Gail’s book, Serger Essentials Master the Basics & Beyond! in December 2015. And she was honored to be named Teacher of the Year at the 2015 American Sewing Expo in Novi, MI!

Designing patterns for beautiful clothes and bags is the heart of Gail Patrice Design and sharing her love of sewing is the soul.

COLLAGE IT! - Go green with the ultimate recycling project. Using wool sweaters or sweatshirts and the Counterpoints Jacket pattern, create a one-of-a-kind jacket using Template Sets as the collage “puzzle pieces.”   It’s like making a quilt with butted seams.collage Normally a two-hour lecture, Gail will be extending it to 3 hours to give you time to try out the techniques on a 9-inch square using three templates. Pre-cut fabric will be available. Fusible interfacing, (DeniFuse), will be provided by Gail. No need to bring a machine. We will have the Guild machines available and ask that those attending the Saturday workshop bring their machines to share on Friday.

WILLIAMSTOWN SKIRT- With its unusual diagonal seam and graceful gores, the Williamstown Skirt is lovely. The artful zigzag diagonal seam on is an eye-catching detail loaded with possibilities. This class is great for all levels of sewers. Pattern construction is easy and attendees will learn a variety of new skills. The pattern is available to pre-order at $10.Williamstown Skirt Please indicate on the registration form if you need the pattern. Elastic can be purchased at the class. Fabrics with a soft, drapey hand (e.g. wool, linen, cotton, or rayon) show off the gored panels beautifully. If you have questions you may email Gail directly at
