Some notes for the day:
Be sure to bring your member number with you. You must be a member in good standing with dues up-to-date to participate.
We have many new members and there are members from across the metro you have yet to meet sew, Wear a nametag! Many of you have nametags that you created in a NG challenge (I would love to see your creativity!) or have professionally printed. Wearing your nametag as you check in will add another ticket to the door prize box!
Yes, there will be door prizes! You will receive a ticket for attending, one for wearing your nametag, a ticket if you are wearing a garment that you sewn (we would accept a bag or home décor item that you bring with as not everyone sews garments) and a ticket if you fill a volunteer position prior to our meeting.
We are looking for a few volunteers to help during the event: 2 classroom teacher assistants; 2 or 3 people to help set up, monitor, and pack up the Fabric Swap; 1 or 2 people to help convert classroom space to luncheon space (venue staff will set for lunch, but we will be setting out our centerpieces, etc)
With members and their Neighborhood Groups reaching from Rochester to St. Cloud and Forest Lake we found a central location. The venue is right off HWY 694 and Lexington Avenue not too far from the intersections of HWY 35W and HWY 10. You can see the building on the north side of the highway. We encourage carpooling. After all, what is more fun than traveling with sewing buddies!
This event includes the Election of Officers for the Chapter Advisory Board. You will be receiving a separate communication from the Nominating/Election Committee with details regarding the candidates and their bios along with the How To Vote instructions.
You must preregister for this event.** Early registration is $30.00 for the day. Cut off is end of day Friday, October 25. After that date the registration fee is $45.00 and registration will close EOD Friday, November 1. The caterers and our Guild staff need time to order food and supplies for the event. Please see our website and event calendar at www.asg-mpls-stpaul.org. for registration and payment using PayPal. For those who prefer to pay by check, personal checks will be accepted. Please mail your payment to our Treasurer, Donella Petro, 10225 260 th Avenue NW, Zimmerman MN 55398. Please allow for postal delays, so mail early!
**If you are unable to attend this event for the entire day, please note that we welcome your presence at the Annual Meeting beginning at 1:00 pm. Those who wish to attend the meeting only will not need to preregister or pay a registration fee.
***Attached to this email is an application for a scholarship to help with financial assistance with the registration fee for this daylong event. We want all of our members to have a wonderful day and actively participate in the Guild’s business matters.
We have worked with the caterer to provide a menu that would be appealing to all members. With a group of this size it is difficult to meet all of the dietary requirements that members have. Please note that this location is gluten friendly and does try to meet the needs of all guests.
For our Make It/Take It sessions, you will not need to bring a sewing machine. The sessions are planned to be a demonstration and you will be taking the kits home with you to complete at your leisure.
There will be a collection box for completed community service projects that need a home. We will connect items with an organization that will be happy to have them.
We have space for a Fabric Swap. Building a stash or cleaning an older one, this is your time! We all have those projects we just will never sew, fabric that we look at a few months down the road and ask ourselves, “what was I thinking!’ and fabric that was gifted and just not our taste. Now is the time to swap out--bring fabric and notions and swap out for something you may find interesting. Since the Guild’s storage space is limited, we will be unable to store items for another day. We ask that you take your unswapped items home at the end of the day. We would also entertain a suggested location for donated fabric and notions. Do you have a place you donate to? Are you willing to help box items and deliver?
I and the Chapter Advisory Board look forward to seeing you at our annual meeting. This email provided you the information you need to plan and have a wonderful day. If you have any additional questions about this event or wish to volunteer, please email president@asg-mpls-stpaul.org.
Best Regards,
Eileen Scott, President
