Seamlines from the President-May 2022

What a whirlwind three months it has been. Vice President Bonnie Hagel and I met with most of the neighborhood groups. We have learned so much about what you want, what you like about ASG and what you would like to see happen. So many ideas floating around in our heads. But the single idea we heard over and over is that there is a large variety of interests and training wants and we will work hard to meet all those needs.

We have added 13 new members and I want to welcome everyone of them. A new neighborhood group in Maple-Grove Plymouth area was added. We took a field trip to the style artist Joy Noelle, and Sewing for Service Day was very successful.

Register for the Style Show Luncheon, May 14, and most of all participate by modeling one of your stunning creations. Remember the Presidents Challenge is Dressed up Denim, any creative, attractive items made from denim. Be there and you could win something from the $300 gift selections.

Plans in the work are:

• June - A summer pot-luck picnic with a fabric exchange

• July - An opportunity for members to help with a Sewing Tips and Tricks class offered through Hopkins Community Ed

• August - Serger Class

• September - A class whereby multiple small sewing projects will be taught and constructed such as pin cushions, passport holders, small bags. If you have an idea you want to demonstrate let me know

• A field trip to Heartfelt Silks in Bayport and lunch in Stillwater

As we continue to grow our activities and organization there will be many opportunities for people to be a part of the planning and implementation of the events. Just like sewing, I encourage each of you to find what you like to do and step forward to offer your energies to make this an active, vibrant group.
