Sew on! A Year of Fun
President’s Message February - April 2021
Happy 2121! 2020 was the year that wasn’t. Sure, we sewed more, shopped our fabric collection more and did all of those projects around the house. But there is so much more to living than cleaning and repairing the house. There’s looking at and feeling new fabrics (even if we’re not looking to buy). There’s meeting friends for coffee. There’s playing with and spoiling grandchildren. There’s having family and extended family over for dinner or a backyard barbecue. There’s sharing all of our completed (and work in progress) projects at Neighborhood Group meetings. There are no Zoom meetings, we get to talk face to face.
Well, it’s all about to change! 2021 is going to be the YEAR OF FUN. February is the month with Valentine’s Day. I’m making cards to send and hope to finish a few themed mug rugs for friends and family. March is National Craft Month – more sewing themed greeting cards. April – the Fashion Show is back on and most of you have projects from 2019, 2020 and 2021 to share. It’s going to be fabulous.
Your Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) is planning to make this the Chapter’s best year to date. Thanks to the help of Hands-On Twin Cities (HOTC), we were partnered with experts int their field to help us grow and become more vibrant. They provided ideas to engage all of our current and potential members in new, exciting and enjoyable ways. We plan to make our social media platforms more user friendly and entertaining. Our goal is to have more of you posting on the sites (so the sites need to be more user friendly). We are planning Sit and Sews, more group Community Service opportunities, meet-ups and programs presented by you for you. Our success depends on all of us. We’re in the beginning stages of planning, but you all will be kept in the loop and we hope that you feel comfortable enough to be a part of the loop.
Finally, there is an interest in publishing a Chapter Directory? We appreciate that there are members that don’t attend Neighborhood Group meetings but may live close enough to another to get together and sew. The directory would provide you with member’s name, address, email and telephone numbers. As always, you can opt out of the directory. However, if you are interested in the directory idea, leave me a message at 651-738-8143 or president@asg-mpls-stpaul.org.
