For our meetings we do a combination of in person and Zoom, therefore they can choose what they feel more comfortable with. We met totally by Zoom January 14 as the roads were iced. That was nice. It was a very small group, but we got to know each other more. That was a plus.
Our topic was sewing machine feet and of course show and tell. We planned the next meeting and how and what we could do for community service. We came up with many community service ideas and decided to do what we’d like/had materials for. Many of the ideas were fidget blankets and premie leg warmers to donate locally, zippered pouches, fleece beanies, diapers, bibs and flannel doll blankets for Operation Christmas Child through our churches that did that program.
Doing community service projects on our own helped got us excited to sew and definitely something we could do while being cooped up.
Our February meeting is a fat quarter challenge, seeing what we could create with an 18”X22” piece of fabric. Other future meetings will be machine feet again, marking tools, how to make an Origami bag and different feet for the coverstitch machine.
Using zoom has been great to keep in touch and sometimes just visit!
Bloomington By Susan Donaldson
Bloomington Neighborhood group is continuing to stay connected thru Zoom meetings until we can meet in person.
In January Shelly Phluke gave us a wonderful presentation on beaded buttons. We have programs planned thru June so far. The programs include Japanese Boro, how to appliqué on a Jean jacket, how to choose a dress form, serger sewing, threads, and what shows, blogs, shops, etc do you use for learning or buying supplies.
We hope we can eventually meet in person, but doing what we can on Zoom for now.
Stitch and Chat Woodbury By Pam Zimmerman
Stitch and Chat Woodbury met in November with a zoom meeting. We discussed our plans for the year 2021. We are hoping that we can have Brenda Oseland join us for a Group Works meeting, explaining all the information of the program. We missed our field trips to Harbor Freight, Tandy Leather and Axman so we would like to do that this next year. In 2019 some of us took a class from Polly Carlson on Dichroic Glass and we are hoping we can have her visit our group or have another class. In July we planned to make mittens so we are hoping 2021 lets us get together to accomplish that task.
All the ladies enjoyed Shelly Hildreth’s presentation of a power point program of the Brag and Drag photos. And of course, we are all looking forward to 2021 Christmas luncheon. There was some great show and tell.
In December we met again with a zoom meeting. We were able to complete our Community Service Project by making pillowcases and blankets to donate to Children’s NICU.
It was fun to just catch up and talk about what we were making for Christmas gifts. Again, we had some great show and tell.
Stitch and Chat Woodbury met by zoom for our January meeting. We discussed the needs of the CAB for a newsletter editor and education person. Lolita talked about the CAB visiting with Hands on Twin Cities to increase the interest in ASG. You tube and a website were two ways to accomplish this.
Sergers: Gail Yellen’s site (https://www.gailpatrice.com) has a serger feet class on their uses that our members were interested in taking.
For show and tell Carol had several great items and also mentioned a site that she had gotten some of her embroidery designs. Embroidery Weekly! (https://www.embweekly.co.za)
We had a great time enjoying each others company.
