Great Work, Gloria!

In case you missed it in the August 2nd edition of NOTIONS, here is a Member Sew & Tell from Gloria Mott, Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN Chapter:

Gloria's friend gifted her a cherished lace bed skirt to prevent it from ending up in a landfill. Without a second thought, Gloria welcomed the lovely offering, knowing she could find a use for it. Not long after, her friend was expressing concern about the substantial $8,000 quote for window treatments for a specific room in her home. Gloria got to work and proposed repurposing the lace as a valance, coupled with window shades. Boards were affixed to the window frame and after lining the lace with a stiff interfacing, the valance was secured to the wood with Velcro. The result? Her friends couldn't contain their admiration for this innovative solution and we're right there with them! The old bed skirt is now a stunning display that beautifully complements the wood and wallpaper. Way to go, Gloria!
