Seamlines from the President-Feb. 2023

The Joy of Sewing

We are in the middle of our infamous Minnesota Winters. Some of

us take off for warmer weather and some of us just hunker down

and thank goodness we sew to keep those long cold nights busy.

So that made me think of the joy of sewing and how, for many of

us, it started out to be an opportunity to

- grow a new skill

- or an opportunity to be creative and inspired

Ready for Sewing at the February Sewing Retreat

- or an opportunity to contribute to our community by making

things we donate

- or an opportunity to pass on little something of ourselves by

making things for family and friends

- Or an opportunity to make new friends with like minded people.

Whatever made you want to start sewing, sometimes it can get

lost over time. Take a minute to remember what brought you joy

in sewing. Making your sewing project perfect is not the joy, we

can buy perfect in stores. The joy is in the process, in the

creativity, in the growth. The joy is in meeting with fellow sewers,

oogling over great creations, laughing over humorous mistakes.

And and of course, the joy of looking at, reorganizing, buying new

and swapping fabrics with our friends to develop the greatest

fabric stash that we could never use if we lived to be 150 years

old. Happy sewing my friends.

Planning has already begun for the 2023 Style Show Luncheon - “Up North”.  Volunteers are needed to make this event as great as it has been in the past.  If you can help please contact Shelly Hildreth at wfordfilmdude@aol.com.
