The American Sewing Guild is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to people who believe sewing is a rewarding and creative activity. Membership in the Guild is open to the public and welcomes sewists of all skill levels. The Minneapolis/St. Paul Chapter is one of the largest chapters in the country and serves the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.

We organize a variety of educational workshops, lectures and trunk shows throughout the year. Events vary from garment fitting, quilting, accessory sewing, using your serger and more. Typically the chapter hosts 2 or 3 nationally recognized sewing experts each year. ASG members contribute to their communities by sewing a variety of garments, bags, and items for the military, children and others in need. These items are sewn by individuals, by Neighborhood Groups, and at the annual Make A Difference day. Our quarterly newsletter, The Selvedge, contains local news and events, shared projects and resources from members and guild news.

About the ASG - National Organization

The American Sewing Guild (ASG) is a national membership organization that welcomes sewing enthusiasts of all skill levels and from many different walks of life. Chapters are located in cities all across the country and members of all ages meet monthly to learn new sewing skills, network with others who share an interest in sewing and participate in community service sewing projects. Membership in the Guild gives you an opportunity to experience your love of any type of home sewing with others who share your interest.

The American Sewing Guild’s headquarters is located in Houston, TX and serves as a link between its chapters. From ASG headquarters, staff members manage the day-to-day operations of the organization including maintaining a data base of members and chapter records, overseeing new chapter development, organizing the annual conference and networking with the larger sewing community and industry.

ASG is made up of Chapters, Neighborhood Groups and Members at Large. Local chapters host social events such as fashion shows and sewing fairs and many offer sewing related service projects for their community. Our website offers educational videos, projects and more. All members can increase their confidence, expand their skills, enjoy the annual National Conference and take advantage of discounts available only to members.
