Minnesota Map

It’s time to start your sewing machines engines and get your creative

juices flowing for our annual spring members Fashion Show!

Saturday, May 6, 2023

11:00 a.m-3:00 p.m.

Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport

7901 34th Ave. South

Bloomington, MN 55425

The show includes catered lunch, silent auction, President’s Challenge, and of course, the  Fashion show. Questions or comments about the event can be sent to: fashionshow@asg mpls-stpaul.org. This is a fun time to share what you’ve been working on, an extension of the  “show and tell” that happens at most neighborhood groups. You can also invite others to  model items made for them. Any young people who make their own garment and model it will  be admitted free, so encourage any youth you know, both boys and girls, to come and model  their self-made creations. In order to register via PayPal, a fee must be charged. Youth models may request their $.01 fee be refunded at check-in at the show. This would be a great time to support and teach a new generation  about sewing. Of course, style isn’t just what you wear so we will have space for you to show  your accessories, home décor, quilted items, and other projects that don’t lend themselves  well to being carried on the runway. Show off your favorite homemade and discover new ideas  for 2023. This year’s theme for the 2023 President’s Challenge is “Up North”. The challenge  this year will be anything Up North related, and can be a lot of items such as: all types of  winter wear mittens, gloves, hats, coats, jackets etc., summer wear shorts, tops swimwear,  cover up, floppy hats, etc., fishing vests, fishing hats etc., lounging robe, coverup etc. This  year’s Presidents Challenge is on the garment entry form, it will not have a separate form.  Printable forms below-see buttons.

The menu sounds delicious! Note that all the main course options are gluten free. Berries and whipped cream without cake are an option for a
gluten free dessert.

Fashion Show Committee Volunteer Opportunities:

We are still looking for volunteers. It takes a village for a large event like this to run smoothly.  We need your help with the planning and/or on the day of the event. Help with Silent Auction,  Emcee, Registration, Photographer, Day of Show, and Displays. If you are willing to help in any  of these areas, please contact Shelly at: fashionshow@asg-mpls-stpaul.org or 580-819-0768.

Neighborhood Group Help

We would like to again ask all the Neighborhood Groups to consider submitting a group basket  to the Silent Auction. The response from these baskets is great and the donations support our  ASG activities. With a combined basket, everyone who wants to contribute can do so at their  own level, the basket ends up being more interesting due to combined ideas, and it is a way to  participate in the annual event even if you cannot attend. Remember, the baskets do not need  to be sewing related – think of what YOU would bid on and build on that idea. Theme  examples: wine, I’m a chocoholic, gardening, movie, coffee, games, date night, s’more, single  cocktail, self-care, junk foodie, holiday, and many others.

Don’t forget the men, they love a man’s basket etc. Ask all the places you patronize about a  donation for the silent auction. It does not need to be sewing related, it can be restaurants,  nail salons, hair salons.
